Managing cold and flu symptoms and vaccine advice

As we move into winter and the likelihood of more staff and students being affected by colds and flu, we’d like to remind you that if you have symptoms of a respiratory infection, such as Covid-19 or flu, you should stay at home to avoid contact with colleagues.

See the advice from NHS Inform on Covid-19 symptoms and how to manage them.

As you are aware, most people no longer need to take a coronavirus test unless they fall under a specific group – such as those working in an NHS health setting. The advice remains that people should take up the offer of vaccination whenever available, and we encourage eligible staff to do so.

Covid-19 booster jabs are currently being offered to the over 50s and other groups, and you can check your eligibility for flu and coronavirus jabs via the NHS Inform winter vaccines guide
