Aberdeen Humanities Fund - Chair and Treasurer positions

The Aberdeen Humanities Fund is the University's vehicle for disbursing donor funding for research in the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.

Working closely with the Development Trust and the University’s Library and Museums, the AHF supports awards for staff, students and visiting scholars.

The AHF is looking to appoint a new Chair and Treasurer, to replace the current officers who are concluding their tenure. The principal duties of the Chair have been to direct the strategy of the AHF, to lead the award schemes, to act as the primary contact point for the Fund, and to serve ex officio on the Friends of the Aberdeen University Library (FAUL) board. The principal duties of the Treasurer have been to manage the budget codes and to administer funds transfers via the Development Trust (DT). Tenure for both positions is anticipated to be for five years.

Expressions of interest of up to 500 words, outlining applicants’ relevant experience and reasons for interest in the role, are invited before 30 July and should be sent to the current Chair, Dr Adelyn Wilson (adelyn.wilson@abdn.ac.uk). These will be reviewed in confidence by an appointments board representing the AHF, the University’s Libraries and Museums and other stakeholders. Applicants may be invited to discuss their application with the appointments board. The new Chair and Treasurer will be expected to take up their new roles in September or as soon as possible thereafter following a hand over from the outgoing officers.

Interested colleagues can discuss these roles in confidence with the current Chair, Dr Adelyn Wilson (adelyn.wilson@abdn.ac.uk) or the current Treasurer, Dr Colin Barr (c.barr@abdn.ac.uk).
