From Aberdeen to...CASE award success

A campaign highlighting the achievements of the University's alumni community has been honoured with a prestigious award from a leading educational body.

The ‘From Aberdeen to…’ campaign, launched in 2019, tells the stories of inspiring graduates who have gone on to excel in their chosen careers, spanning science, the arts, business and sports.

It has been recognised with a Bronze award in the latest CASE Circle of Excellence Awards, which showcases hundreds of institutions whose talented staff members have advanced their institutions through innovative, inspiring, and creative ideas.

Praising the efforts of the University’s marketing and alumni relations teams who collaborated on the campaign, the judges highlighted the benefits of the campaign in strengthening alumni relationships and building awareness of the alumni team and its work.

In particular, they were impressed by the inclusive nature of the campaign and its impact in increasing the number of those signed up to the alumni volunteering programme.

The judges added: “With the pool of potential alumni to profile, Aberdeen has created a marketing strategy they can build upon for years to come. This campaign is a striking way to create marketing material that can serve multiple purposes.”

Commenting on the award, the University’s Executive Director of Advancement Rob Donelson said:

“We are thrilled with this international honour that recognises a highly creative and collaborative project which met multiple institutional goals.

“The University has a great story to tell through its remarkable alumni, and this campaign was a novel way to tell that story.  My congratulations go to our talented staff who worked so hard to make this a success.”

Director of External Relations & Marketing Jenny Fernandes added: “This is a great example of collaborative working between our marketing and alumni teams, and I’d like to congratulate all of those involved for a job well done. A special mention should go to graphic designers Wai-Lum Sung and Charlie Dear, who are responsible for creating the vibrant images used in the campaign.

“Our alumni community is one of our greatest strengths, and this campaign has been a fantastic celebration of their achievements.”
