Considerate Parking

Considerate Parking

At the University we want everyone who works, studies, or visits our campuses to enjoy safe and easy access to our buildings. That can be difficult when lots of cars converge and there’s limited parking.

You can help make this better by:

  • Parking your car in a marked bay so that it doesn’t block access for others – parking outwith bays can cause obstructions to other people and creates risks by forcing pedestrians onto roads, restricting sight lines, or blocking access for emergency vehicles.
  • Paying for a daily voucher (available from University coffee shops or our Online Store) or annual permit to park your car – revenue from parking is ring fenced for parking and sustainable travel and helps maintain our facilities.
  • Only parking in disabled bays if you have an appropriate permit – disabled bays are there for people who need close access to our buildings. Blocking the space, even for a few minutes, can cause a lot of inconvenience.

These may seem like common sense but it’s easy to forget when you’re rushing to a meeting or late for a lecture. Parking responsibly helps keep our campus safe. Enforcement measures are in place at the University and we will issue parking charge notices to vehicles causing an obstruction or not complying with the posted regulations.
