Meet BoB - free, on demand TV and radio service for staff and students

Record UK programmes and watch or listen on the move using the British Universities Film & Video Council's online/off-air TV and radio service, Box of Broadcasts (BoB).

Available on all devices, BoB covers a wide range of UK television and radio terrestrial channels including BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Four, ITV, Channel 4, Film 4 and more.

Record from over 65 free-to-air channels or retrieve recordings made by other universities.

Use BoB’s editing tools to create short clips from long recordings, or use BoB’s one click citation for easy academic referencing. Embed and share content in MyAberdeen and social media.

Recordings are kept indefinitely and searchable transcripts make it easy to find what you’re looking for in the ever growing archive (currently over 2 million broadcasts). You can even keep programmes you’ve recorded in your own archive - My BoB - to watch again.

And now BoB is even better!

BoB’s been around for a while now, but on 1 August this year, it went live with a fresh new look and enhanced features. Find out more in BoB’s promo video.

Great! How do I get started?

BoB is available to staff and students for academic and recreational use without the need to create an account - simply sign in at https://learningonscreen.ac.uk/ondemand/, selecting University of Aberdeen as your home institution, and login with your normal University username and password.

To help you get started, BoB has published a set of online video tutorials – see http://bufvc.ac.uk/tvandradio/bob/bob-video-tutorials.

BoB’s intuitive interface makes it easy to use, but if you get into difficulty, please contact Media Services at mediaservices@abdn.ac.uk.
