The 'That's Not Real Research!' series aims to break down the perceived barriers between research disciplines, fostering a sustainable and diverse PGR community. At each session, you'll hear different PhD perspectives from our Interdisciplinary Fellows and Directors, highlighting their personal experiences and differing approaches to research. This series is open to all PGRs across the University of Aberdeen, regardless of field or stage in their research journey.
We all recognise the power of connecting research from different fields to advance knowledge and create groundbreaking discoveries. But when research areas seem worlds apart, how can such connections be made?
These sessions tackle the unexpected head-on! Bringing together specialists from across the university, we’ll explore how seemingly unconnected disciplines can unite to address society’s most pressing challenges.
Our Interdisciplinary Fellows and Directors will share their fascinating postgraduate research journeys, demonstrating how their seemingly distinct fields converge in unexpected and transformative ways to break down barriers, build bridges across diverse research disciplines, and make significant contributions to cutting edge research. They’ll share how interdisciplinary collaborations propelled them to become leading researchers in their fields, offering valuable insights, practical strategies and actionable advice for you to do the same.
