Cafe Scientifique - Earthquake prediction: science or fiction?
-
This is a past event
In 2012, scientists in Italy were convicted of manslaughter for failure to predict an earthquake.
We'll explore the challenges of predicting seismic activity and ask who's to blame when the unexpected happens?
Our Cafe Scientifique Aberdeen City series takes place monthly in Waterstone's Union Bridge book store in Aberdeen's Union Street, usually around the middle Wednesday of the month. Sessions run from January through to October and are free to attend. No booking is required and places are allocated on the first-come basis. What's more, most events are free (though some require booking). All are pitched at a very accessible level and give ample time for audience questions and discussion.
