Open to students from any discipline across the University - not restricted to the programmes already funded under the theme.
The University of Aberdeen’s strategic theme, The North, aims to promote and support multidisciplinary research across the circumpolar north. In connection with the theme, The North invites bids of up to £350 from University of Aberdeen registered PhD students to support research activity related to the theme. This may include (although is not limited to) fieldwork or attendance at a forthcoming conference, workshop, exhibition, or similar event.
This call is open to students from any discipline across the University, and it is not restricted to the programmes already funded under the theme.
To apply, please provide the project administrator, Jill Barber (jill.barber@abdn.ac.uk), with a short statement – no more than one side of A4 – outlining the following:
- details of the proposed activity for which you are seeking funding
- how this aligns with the interests of The North (a link to our website can be found here)
- a budget showing your estimated costs, stating precisely the amount (up to £350) that you are seeking from The North, and (where applicable) giving details of any existing financial support that you have, or are receiving towards the same from other sources
In return for funding, the successful applicants will be expected to write a short article or report outlining how they used the funds for inclusion within the News section of The North website. The funds granted under this call must be committed before 1 December 2018.
The deadline for applications is Monday, 9 July 2018. We anticipate being able to announce the outcome just a few days later.
