Award-winning poet and poetry translator, Ian Crockatt will be launching The Song Weigher, his newly published volume of poetry translated from Old Norse at FREE event - booking essential.
Subtitled Complete Poems of Egill Skallagrimsson, tenth century Viking and skald, these are the poems of the larger-than-life hero of the thirteenth-century Icelandic classic, Egill's Saga (biography of a real warrior and poet renowned for his brutality in combat as well as his extraordinary poetic skills). This is the first time Egill's poems have appeared in English as a work in their own right independently of the saga narrative they inspired. Jonzon Duo (Kristin Borgehed and Nathan Bissette) will round off the afternoon with songs and tunes from Sweden and Norway. Not a horned helmet in sight!
