This competition, is only open to registered students at the University of Aberdeen.
‘The land was forever, it moved and changed below you, but was forever’ Lewis Grassic Gibbon, Sunset Song.
Lewis Grassic Gibbon was unquestionably one of Scotland’s greatest writers on place, landscape and the human lives that shape and are shaped by both natural and man-made environments.
This competition, open to all registered students at the University of Aberdeen, invites entries in either fiction or non-fiction that address in some way the lasting significance of place in our lives.
£100. is available for the best written prose submission by a student at the University of Aberdeen.
Competition rules:
Entries are free, but no more than two pieces may be submitted.
The length of each entry must not exceed 3000 words (excluding the title), and a word count must be included in the document.
Entries must be original and not previously published.
Entries should be formatted as follows: 12pt font, 1.5 or double spaced.
An entrant submitting two entries shall be eligible to win only one of the prizes.
All entries will be read anonymously by three judges and the winner agreed on by consensus.
The judges’ decisions are final and no correspondence, or comment on individual entries, can be entered into.
Submission of entry implies acceptance of the rules and failure to comply with the rules may result in disqualification.
