The event is part of WAGON’s current art project A to/from B – a year long silent conversation online at http://a-to-from-b.tumblr.com followed by a physical exhibition. Participating are two contemporary visual artists who were given no information about each other before the exhibition and share no cultural background. The artists are
- Martyna Benedyke, a recent graduate from gray’s School of Art
- Kaori Yamashita, a Japanese artist working internationally.
The discussion follows the call and response spirit of the original brief inviting speakers to present visual material they think resonates with A to/from B. Selected film extracts include:
- Correspondences: Jonas Mekas- José Luis Guerín (2011, directed by Jonas Mekas and José Luis Guerín, production of CCCB: Centre de Culture Contemporània de Barcelona),
- Video Letter: Shuntaro Tanikawa and Shuji Terayama (filmed in 1982-3, production of art days INC.)
- Flash in the Metropolitan by Roasalind Nashashibi and Lucy Skaer (2006, 16mm film, courtesy of Nashashibi/Skaer, LUX, London and Murray Guy, New York)
