The University of Aberdeen as whole performed very well in the 2022 University Rankings published by The Guardian. This year, Aberdeen held on to its position from the 2021 ranking, placing 20th out of 121 universities in the United Kingdom. One of the Universities strongest areas of performance was the ‘average entry tariff' category which ranked the university 8th (out of 121) in the average UCAS scores of entering students, with St. Andrews and Cambridge leading the way.
In the subject rankings; Anthropology ranked 5th, Sociology ranked 10th, and Politics and International Relations ranked 19th.
The Anthropology Department had the strongest showing in the ‘satisfaction with teaching’ ranking which placed Aberdeen 3rd out of Universities offering the subject. The Department of Sociology also excelled in the same category which placed Aberdeen in 6th, with 90.6% of students being satisfied with their teaching. lastly, the Department of Politics and Internal Relations performed exceptionally well in the same category - placing 11th in the UK.
