Dr Ilia Xypolia gives a talk on Global Power Shifts and Greek Foreign Policy

Ilia Xypolia presented a paper entitled "From taken for granted to an assertive ally: dilemmas, challenges and opportunities for Greek Foreign Policy in an evolving international order" at the prestigious Conference "A Progressive Agenda for the Next Decade: Goals - Priorities - Policies" organised by the ENA Institute for Alternative Policies in Athens, Greece. The Conference featured numerous scholars and policy-makers, including former Ministers of Greek Governments as well as a former Prime Minister.

Dr Xypolia joined the high-level panel with Nikos Kotzias, Emeritus Professor of International and European Studies at the University of Piraeus and former Foreign Minister of Greece and Sotiris Roussos, Professor at the Department of Political Science & International Relations, University of Peloponnese, Head of the Center for Mediterranean, Middle Eastern & Islamic Studies (KEMMIS). The panel was chaired by Vaggelis Vitzileos, Coordinator of the ENA International & European Analysis Circle, PhD Candidate, University of Piraeus, Greece.

In her talk, Ilia discussed opportunities and threats that regional and global power shifts offer to a small state. While doing so, Ilia spoke about her forthcoming monograph (co-authored with Dionysios Tsirigotis, published by Manchester University Press) on the Global Politics of the 1923 Lausanne Conference.
