eLearning Support Assistant Laura Forero Rincón has been award a SEDA/Jisc Student Partnership Impact Award.
Given in recognition of students who have had an identifiable impact at their university relating to educational development, the international award from the Staff and Educational Development Association celebrates those individuals who have gone above and beyond their standard institutional role.
Laura, who is studying for an MSc Biomedical Sciences (Pharmacology) with an industrial placement, has worked hard to promote digital accessibility at the University of Aberdeen.
This includes working in partnership with academic and professional services staff to enhance the accessibility of course materials, initiating the addition of digital accessibility training in the 2-day course for new teaching staff; and proposing and developing the ‘Unlocking Inclusivity’ digital accessibility awareness campaign together with other students working as eLearning Support Assistants.
Dr Sara Preston, Head of eLearning at the Centre for Academic Development, said: "Laura has become a fervent advocate for digital accessibility and was instrumental in developing a campaign to raise awareness of digital accessibility amongst students.
“Her dedication and passion has had a tremendous and lasting impact across the University."
