The Polwarth Building was constructed in the 1930s as the original home of the Medical School at Foresterhill. The main entrance and reception is near the hospital's Cornhill Road entrance. Another entrance is located up a set of steps opposite opposite ARI's Rotunda entrance while a third can be found around the corner from the IMS building's main entrance. It can also be entered internally from the main ARI building through the Link Building or from the IMS via an elevated tunnel.
The building was significantly extended in the years after the second world war and is now just one of many University buildings on our Foresterhill Campus, housing many academic offices, lecture theatres, research groups and the University's Medical Library. Following an extensive refurbishment it was reopened in July 1986 by retiring long-time University Chancellor Henry Hepburne-Scott, 10th Lord Polwarth TD DL, and was renamed in his honour.
