The history of the granite industry in Aberdeen from the Elphinstone Institute Public Lecture Series 2024
Jim Fiddes will tell the story of the granite industry in Aberdeen and the North-East from the earliest real quarry at Loanhead in Rosemount in 1730, through the development of quarrying, building, and the granite yards where the granite was cut and polished. Jim’s story concludes around the outbreak of the First World War.
