Aberdeen MBChB undergraduates interested in research and education are encouraged to seek opportunities to engage in active research programmes within the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition and Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
Participating in research as an undergraduate, whether during an intercalated BSc or a shorter project, provides an excellent perspective into how clinical problems may be addressed through research. This is the best way to challenge oneself to be original and to acquire the necessary generic skills to pursue an academic career.
Competitive summer research placements are offered within the Aberdeen Summer Research Studentships ; the HOTSTART programme ; and also through teaching development bursaries within the field of medical education . In addition, students may seek to participate in research during term-time through external funding sources.
Students are free to seek opportunities themselves or may choose to approach Professor Jenna Gregory for advice on current research opportunities.
