And they are off...on 15th November, and organised in conjunction with the Goethe Institute, London, the Careers Road Show UK will come to the University of Aberdeen.
This event will showcase what professional opportunities there are for learners of German, which industries need applicants with German language skills, and how to apply for a job or internship in the German speaking world.
Since Aberdeen is the only venue in Scotland this year, we expect to welcome visiting school groups from all over Scotland. But equally, our own students are warmly invited to come along and to embrace the opportunities on offer. The day will consist of the usual company stalls plus a number of related workshops throughout the day. A detailed programme will be published shortly.
Undergraduate Programme Co-ordinator for German Studies, Dr Gundula Sharman remarked that "this is a great opportunity to highlight the relevance of German in professional life, as well as the the importance of German language skills in the wider workforce. Hosting this event in the North East shows the University of Aberdeen's commitment to German Studies, making it the ideal place to study German in Scotland."
The Goethe-Institute is the cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany with a global presence. They facilitate international cultural exchange, promote access to the German language and support the unimpeded development of culture and science.
The Career Road Show is supported by the German-British Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the office of Bavaria in the UK, the UK-German Connection, the British-German Association and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
