Current and former PhD composition students have had major new broadcasts and recordings released.
Two University of Aberdeen composers have had some very exciting new works released into the world this month. Eoghan Desmond (2016-2020) has recently been working with leading international choir The Sixteen and composer Sir James MacMillan, the fruits of which are 'Nothing in Vain', a striking new piece that is included on The Sixteen's latest album, 'Meditation'. Ben Ponniah (2019 - ) has continued his impressive collaboration with Britain's leading professional choir the BBC Singers, with a new work for the 'Music and Meditation' podcast which is now available on BBC Sounds. Dr Phillip Cooke (the supervisor of Eoghan and Ben) said, 'this is incredible news and shows the continued success of our PhD composers - many of our current and former students are leading choral composers, performed around the world. It makes me immensely proud to have been part of their journey.'
