Lauren Cuthbert (a first-year PhD student in the German Department) has been elected to the National Postgraduate Colloquium in German Studies Committee.
The committee consists of circa four UK-based postgraduate students in German Studies. The voluntary committee work includes organising the biannual colloquia (with one based at the Institute of Modern Languages Research London, and another at a university elsewhere in the UK), assessing the applications, as well as setting up and chairing the panels.
We are delighted that Lauren will be representing Aberdeen on this national PG committee, and working together with PhD students of German from all over the UK.
Lauren commenced her PhD in the German Department in October 2020, and her thesis focuses on 'The representation of the Vietnam War and transnational memory in the films of East German filmmakers Heynowski and Scheumann'. Lauren's research is supported by the Isabella Middleton Studentship.
