Next Wednesday (March 1) we will hold the second screening of the Spanish and Latin American Film Club, co-organised by the Spanish and Latin American Society and the Department of Spanish and Latin American Studies.
We will watch the Argentine film Sinfonía para Ana (Symphony for Ana, 2017), directed by Ernesto Ardito and Virna Molina, a coming-of-age love story between student activists in a context of political violence and dictatorial repression:
Synopsis: 'Ana and Isa are the best of friends, attending the Colegio Nacional of Buenos Aires before the coup in 1976. Both grew up thinking that there were two important things in life: true love and changing the world; until the moment Ana falls in love.'
Dr Rodrigo López Martínez will be in charge of presenting the film. The screening will be followed by a discussion session on student initiatives and the challenges we face as an academic community, with the participation of student representatives from the Spanish and Latin American Society and Camilo Torres Barragán (Vice President for Communities of the Students' Union).
The screening will take place at NK 1 (New King's) from 6pm until 9pm, and the film will be shown with English subtitles.
If you have any questions, ideas, or you want to participate in organising the screenings, please feel free to email Dr Rodrigo López Martínez (rodrigo.lopezmartinez@abdn.ac.uk) or Dr Bárbara Barreiro León (barbara.leon@abdn.ac.uk), or get in touch with the Spanish and Latin American Society.
Snacks and popcorn will be provided. All welcome to attend and invite your friends!
