Music at the University of Aberdeen is a thriving learning, performing and research community. Our staff cover a wide range of research interests, spanning composition, musicology and performance, and we have over 25 visiting instrumental and vocal teachers who bring their practical and teaching expertise to our programmes. Staff are active as musicologists, composers and performers, and their work is recognised and valued in research communities throughout the world, as well as in the concert hall and via broadcast media.
As well as our undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Music, we offer an undergraduate Music Education programme which incorporates a teaching qualification. We also offer a range of extracurricular activities for students of all subjects at Aberdeen, including a symphony orchestra, a chamber choir, a Balinese gamelan ensemble, and a varied concert series.
