I thoroughly enjoyed my time doing the MSc in Translation Studies. While the academic and theoretical side of the program is interesting, the practical and applied side of the program is absolutely invaluable to anyone who wishes to have a future in translation. The skills learned during the MSc give me a definite advantage in the market as an in-house and freelance translator.

In addition, I felt an unparalleled sense of community with my fellow students. The small group and consistent room gives a great sense of camaraderie and I feel that I have met very professional colleagues and friends for the future. In a field where networking is so important, it is perhaps the most valuable thing, I got out of the program.

More than anything, however, I felt fortunate to be instructed by some of the most passionate and learned professors I have ever worked with. Their passion and excitement for the field is absolutely infectious, and contributed much to my own passion and excitement for translation. For anyone who wishes to go into translation, I can not recommend the MSc highly enough!

Reflective thinking is the key to Maria's teaching and practising sessions, which greatly boosted our professional studies. The classroom environment fosters a positive atmosphere, thereby promoting independent thinking among students.

The MSc in Translation Studies has been a great degree for me to study. I really enjoyed getting to work with my course mates collaboratively on a number of seminars and assignments.

The applied part of the MSc is particularly great, with the Professional Skills course being a highlight for me because of how much it teaches you about setting up your own freelance business.

Moreover, I feel like the staff always go above and beyond to help us students in anything we might need. I personally got to go on a very fulfilling placement as an interpreter in Spain thanks to the Programme Director, Maria. If you are thinking of becoming a translator, this might be the perfect programme for you.

I became interested in translation during my undergraduate degree and wanted to explore it further. When researching postgraduate degrees in translation, the practical emphasis of this course appealed to me, as I wanted to be fully equipped to work in the translation industry after my studies.

The teaching staff have extensive experience in the translation field and have imparted their knowledge to me, preparing me thoroughly for entering the industry. Being able to choose my portfolio texts allowed me to explore my interests in-depth.

The staff have been very approachable and helpful, and the atmosphere on campus is pleasant. I have enjoyed the higher number of study spaces compared to my previous university and the facilities at the Sports Village. The university community is very inclusive; everyone can engage in extra-curricular activities. It is a lovely place to live and work in, and there is a lot of beautiful scenery in the surrounding areas.
