Dr. Amy Bryzgel is one of 30 early-career researchers, selected from a pool of 102 applicants, to attend this year’s ‘Scottish Crucible,’ the professional and personal leadership development programme created by NESTA (http://www.nesta.org.uk) for experienced post-doctoral researchers and those in their first academic position.
The scheme brings together talented researchers from a range of disciplines to explore and expand their creative capacity and problem-solving potential in ways they may never have considered before. Scottish Crucible 2015 will take place over three intensive two-day workshops to be held in Summer 2015. The first workshop, which takes place April 23-24 in Edinburgh, will be hosted by the Royal Society of Edinburgh and the Scottish Parliament. Subsequent labs will take place in May and June, at the University of Dundee, and Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen. In attending Crucible, Dr. Bryzgel is looking forward to learning how to work more effectively with the media and develop approaches for public engagement with her research, and also to identify and realise opportunities for having input in public policy.
