The Practical Theology Research Seminar will run fortnightly on Thursdays, from 10am-12pm (beginning 3rd October) in HMG01, Humanity Manse.
Our text is Courtney Goto’s Taking on Practical Theology (2018). Professor Goto is currently of Boston University, and this ground-breaking work has attracted a lot of attention in the field recently. While her book speaks primarily to the field of practical theology, it has a lot to say to other areas of the discipline about the task of theological dialogue, knowledge construction, and the ‘idolisation of context.’ Our sessions are not restricted to those working in the area of practical theology- anyone interested in this material is very welcome to join us.
