Item Description |
These melodies appear in the scrapbook of tunes and accompaniments that Skinner presented to Mrs Barclay of The Gordon Arms Hotel, Keith, after his bankruptcy. Note how Skinner describes Huntly Castle as a 'Weird Strathspey'. He directs the performer to 'mirk richt' (mark right). He has insterted two bars near the end, about which he states: 'the introduction of these two bars is a departure from all other times hitherto pub.[lishes].' Note Skinner's reel, Bonny Nellie, which he has copied out in tiny handwriting and inserted at the foot of the page. |
