Item Description |
This rather elaborately lettered polka is dedicated to Hugh Brodie of Brodie. A vignette of Brodie Castle (near Forres, Moray) is also included. This image was probably created by the Aberdeen firm of lithographers, Taylor & Henderson. Note how Skinner has not mentioned that he was a composer, but has instead described himself as a Teacher of Dancing and Pupil of the late Dr. Mark. This suggests that the junior orchestra he received his training with, Dr Mark's Little Men, was, in the late 1870s, still well known in the north of Scotland. |
