Item Description |
Manuscript, in Gavin Greig's hand, of the first tune on page 40 of Skinner's Harp and Claymore Collection. This is the final draft, the copy used by the printers when they set the music for publication. See JSS0072 for an earlier manuscript version. Afterwards, the publishers Bayley and Ferguson (London and Glasgow) returned the draft copy to Greig. Skinner had planned to add, below the tune, 'When played on the violin the Gs may be made sharp'. The publishers' query, 'Are you sure you wish this in B&F', seems to have changed his mind. Skinner's note did not appear. |
