Item Description |
Letter from Skinner to the artist David Waterson. He writes: My dear Waterson, I am of opinion that you will someday shine as a Painter of Animals, Sheep & dogs because you never fail to make the lifeless animate - Joseph Farquharson gets for a 20 x 30 £80 - I am truly sorry for an artist who labours incessantly on a picture & has to exist meanwhile. I have had terrible fights for bare existence. See my 'Life' now running in 'People's Journal' the third instalment is out yesterday. [My 'Life' refers to his autobiography, serialised in the People's Journal.] |
