Letter dated 13 April 1918. W. L. Christie (Episcopalian Dean of Brechin) was the grandson of William Christie of Monquhitter. An investigation begins into another manuscript, 'containing "Scotch MS. tunes 1730-60". It belonged to 'James Christie Monquhitter'. The manuscript had been sold (at auction?) over Easter, and then been presented to the University. |

Probably the first printed music for the still popular North-east of Scotland song 'O gin I were fa' Gadie Rins... at the back o' Bennachie'. 'Mill o' Tifty's Annie' dates from the end of the late seventeenth century and is found among the ballads collected by and made famous by Harvard Professor Francis James Child, in the nineteenth century.
