The SFIRC is pleased to welcome many new arrivals for the new academic year. There have been four international researchers visiting with us over the past year. Dr Hebba Mahgoub is from Mansoura University in Egypt, Dr Jun Wang is from Sichuan Agricultural University China, Dr Bei Wang is from GuangDong Ocean University China, and Mr Mahmood ul Hassan from Government College University Lahore Pakistan. All four have been working on individual projects with Dr Jun Zou at the SFIRC.
We are also pleased to have Dr Sohye Yoon continuing on a new 3 year project in collaboration with Stirling University and Queen's University Belfast. The SFIRC was successful in gaining 4 project grants dealing with sustainable aquaculture from the BBSRC and NERC. This will enable Dr Ela Krohl and Dr Milena Monte to stay on working in Prof Sam Martin's and Dr Helen Dooley's groups. It has also brought Dr Marcia Saraiva and Dr Zeynab Heidari to work in Prof Pieter Van West's and Prof Secombe's labs. We are also pleased to welcome 9 new PhD students starting in October based between Prof Secombes, Prof Van West, and Prof Martin's groups.
