For our next informal seminar, Dr Leonel Herrera will be giving an informal seminar on “A clade-wide model for genetic diversity under different evolutionary scenarios” this Friday 24th November at 1 pm in Cruickshank Room G27. Synopsis:Information on genetic structure and genetic diversity of many species is increasingly available. We are starting to see that the spatial arrangement of genetic diversity for one species shares similarities with other ones, suggesting the existence of general patterns. However, basic aspects of these patterns are totally unknown, for instance, do they hold across closely and distantly related species? Do they change in the presence of major climate events? In this talk I will present an individual-based model that will allow us to make predictions on patterns of genetic diversity at clade level.
