Lessons from an extremophilic microbe: How to respond and adapt to an environmental stress
Join Mohea Couturier based at Vrije University in Brusselson the 3rd March 2023 as part of the SBS Informal Seminar Series
Synopsis of talk:
Living organisms, from macro- to micro-organisms, are found in defined ecological niches, and their ability to thrive may be impacted by the specific cellular response triggered by an environmental change. A multidisciplinary research methodology was followed to identify the molecular actors involved in the cellular response of the extremophilic archaeon Sulfolobus acidocaldarius to either a temperature shock, or nutrient depletion, or a variation of the extracellular pH. The talk will also present research avenues to unravel the implication of DNA methylation in the environmental adaptation.”
