Symposium will discuss latest research on viruses in environmental microbiomes and how they shape key ecosystem processes
Environmental microbiomes are extremely diverse; consisting of major groups such as bacteria, archaea, fungi, viruses and protists. They are critical in shaping multiple ecosystem processes. However, we do not fully understand the role of interactions between these different members of the microbiome in determining ecosystem process rates. The symposium will discuss latest research on viruses as part of the microbiome and the environment, and how they shape key ecosystem processes such as element cycling. It is funded by URKI BBSRC International Partnership funds.
We have an excellent line-up of speakers:
- Joanne Emmerson, University of California Davis, USA
- Graeme Nicol, University of Lyon, France
- Karthik Anantharaman, University of Wisconsin Madison, USA
- Christina Hazard, University of Lyon, France
The meeting is open to SBS staff and students for free.
