Prof. Sumantra (Shumone) Ray giving a seminar entitled "NNEdPro Global Institute and the Mobile Teaching Kitchen International Initiative: Envisioning a future of nutrition and health equity."
Shumone has had a long standing interest in how diet interacts with cardiovascular risk, and particularly how polyphenols may have a beneficial impact on blood pressure and vascular tone. He was also the medical lead for the volunteer suite at MRC Human Nutrition Research, Cambridge, and so has a wealth of knowledge on nutritional interventions. Shumone founded NNEdPro, a global organisation to promote affordable nutrition for all (NNEdPro Global Institute for Food, Nutrition and Health). This has recently included a high profile project across India promoting nutrition and health equality which he will tell us more about during his seminar. Shumone has also been a long standing campaigner to ensure medics are trained in nutrition. He is Professor of Nutrition at Ulster University and holds honorary positions at the universities of Dundee and Cambridge
