Dr Hamdan Bin Mohammad of the Ministry of Health in Malaysia
"The Salt Reduction Efforts in Malaysia"
In summary, he'll be sharing our experiences in terms of salt reduction in Malaysia including the strategies and activities that have been carried out and the planning for future activities to achieve salt reduction target in Malaysian population in order to reduce noncommunicable disease burden.
He graduated from National University of Malaysia (UKM) in 1994 and was awarded a BSc Degree in Dietetics. He started his career as a dietitian after joining the Ministry of Health Malaysia as a clinical dietitian in 1995. Since then, has worked in various hospitals throughout Malaysia.
He obtained a master’s degree from UKM as well in 2004 and pursued a PhD at the University of Aberdeen Scotland and graduated in 2016.
He has been appointed as Head of Profession for Ministry of Health Dietitians for 2022-2023.
Currently serving as Senior Principal Assistant Director (Dietetics) in the Disease Control Division of the Ministry of Health Malaysia and responsible for development, implementation and monitoring of the Salt Reduction Strategy to Prevent and Control NCD for Malaysia.
