The Mediterranean Diet and Cardiovascular Disease: a Northern European perspective
The Mediterranean Diet has attracted much interest in terms of its ability to reduce risk of cardiovascular disease. Whether the Mediterranean Diet is associated with reduced risk of cardiovascular disease in non-Mediterranean populations is less certain, as is whether Northern European populations will adopt a Mediterranean Diet. The seminar will describe mixed methods research to develop a peer support intervention to encourage adherence to a Mediterranean Diet in a population at high risk of cardiovascular disease in Northern Ireland, funded by the National Prevention Research Initiative.
