A Call for Papers for a Special Issue of the JOURNAL OF SCOTTISH THOUGHT
Scholarly attention to different branches of Scottish thought, as shown by the numerous books and journal articles published on the topic over the past couple decades, suggests that this growing field of inquiry is dynamic. However, the interdisciplinary nature of this research remains scattered throughout the silos of various disciplines, such as within the conventional disciplinary boundaries of history, philosophy, economics, and literature. Whilst scant attention has been given to meaningfully connecting these somewhat disjointed fields in conversation, the question of how scholars envision new horizons for the study of Scottish intellectual culture merits exploration. This special issue seeks exploratory answers from early career as well as seasoned scholars to this sweeping question as the start of an on-going interdisciplinary dialogue. Articles (between 5,000-8,000 words) in this special issue of the Journal of Scottish Thought will be published by Aberdeen University Press in a fully open access format. The deadline for abstracts is 1 July 2023 and the final submission of accepted articles will be 30 September 2023.
