Ralph O'Connor is Lecturer in Irish-Scottish Studies at the University of Aberdeen. His research interests currently fall into two areas: the prose literature of the Celtic and Scandinavian Middle Ages, and the interplay of literature and science in Europe and America between the American Revolution and the Great War. He is author of The Earth on Show: Fossils and the Poetics of Popular Science, 1802-1856 (2007), and Icelandic Histories and Romances (2002).
