He is the author of the book The Ruins of Experience: Scotland's "Romantick" Highlands and the Birth of the Modern Witness (2007) as well as articles in The Yale Journal of Criticism, Scottish Studies Review, Eighteenth-Century Fiction, PMLA, ELH, and other venues.
