The University of Aberdeen, Queen’s University Belfast and The National University of Ireland – Maynooth have established the Irish Scottish Forum for Spatial Planning. Its purpose is to critically examine the relationship between strategic planning and the development of cities, towns and countryside in Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland. The goal of this first meeting is to place formal planning and spatial imagining in broader historical, cultural, and environmental perspective, and to relate this to evolving concepts of the ‘nation’ and identity.
