Job Description

To meet this growing demand and in order to provide an excellent learning experience for our students, AFG College wish to recruit well-rounded academics with specialization in the following academic discipline of Global Business Communication.

Applicants will be expected to demonstrate their significant experience in teaching in Higher Education (HE), recognized academic and teaching qualifications and sustained academic or professional engagement activities. In particular, the candidate has to have a PhD in Global Business Communication or any similar that focuses on advanced study and research in the fields of communication strategies, practices, and theories as they apply in a global business context. Applicants will have a track record of university teaching and learning and/or experience of training, educating and mentoring the development of others. Ideally candidates will have a teaching qualification, a recognition of the HEA or be willing to work towards their membership of a relevant Higher Education Professional Body.

It is essential for candidates to hold a PhD or equivalent doctoral qualification in a related discipline. Applicants will need to evidence scholarship and/or professional engagement, interaction, and activities related to their field of teaching.

In response to the expanding needs of the marketplace and to enhance the academic offerings for our students, AFG College in collaboration with the University of Aberdeen is eager to expand its faculty by recruiting accomplished academics with a focus on Global Communication within various sectors. This specialization is not confined to any single industry but is relevant across diverse fields such as construction, oil & gas, law, healthcare, politics, engineering, media, and energy.

The ideal candidates will possess a deep understanding of how communication strategies vary between cultures and disciplines, and they will bring a rich blend of theoretical knowledge and practical insights into the classroom. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the curriculum and engage with students through teaching key modules that include, but are not limited to, Communication Theory and Analysis, Negotiations and Cross-Cultural Management, Intercultural Communication, and Institutional Discourse.

Through their contributions, the successful candidates will significantly influence the development of future leaders in global business communication, equipping them with the skills necessary to navigate and succeed in a complex, interconnected world. Transnational education experience will be an advantage for all applicants. The ability to teach in more than one discipline-related area is essential. In addition to their teaching responsibilities, successful candidates will also be expected to participate in the administration of the programmes, actively engage with industry and in relevant scholarship activities.
