Software

Software

We have a range of industry standard software available for researchers on the DaSH analysis platform, including:

  • Microsoft Office Word
  • Microsoft Office Excel
  • Microsoft Office PowerPoint
  • Adobe Acrobat
  • R & RStudio
  • IBM SPSS
  • Stata
  • SAS
  • Wolfram Mathematica
  • Notepad ++
  • MLwiN
  • Haskell Platform 2014 2.0.0
  • Java
  • GitKraken

GPU Server

For projects with particularly high processing demands, we have a dedicated Graphical Processing Unit (GPU) server which researchers can request access to. The server has a Linux operating system, and has an R and Python 3.8 installation. Specifically, a dedicated GPU server leverages one or more GPUs to deliver enhanced processing power and accelerated performance for running computationally intensive workloads, such as video rendering, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data analytics.

CRAN Mirror

We host a local Comprehensive R Archive Network (CRAN) mirror in our environment, allowing R users to locally access all packages in the CRAN package repository. If you require the installation of additional Stata, Python, or non-CRAN R packages, we ask that you email DaSH to request that we have the packages installed. Each package request undergoes a rigorous security assessment before being approved for installation.

CRAN mirror serves as the primary repository for R packages, housing a vast collection of R packages. Within the R environment, CRAN acts as the default search location when installing packages, utilising a network of geographically distributed mirrors. These mirrors are essentially replicas of the main CRAN repository, hosted on different servers around the world. This distributed infrastructure helps to improve download speeds and overall package accessibility for R users.
