The DaSH team facilitates access to regional datasets of population data whilst maintaining the highest standards of security and governance and protecting patient confidentiality.
DaSH was launched in 2012 by NHS Grampian and the University of Aberdeen to offer a secure environment for research using linked data sets. DaSH adheres to strict information security protocols, achieving International Organisation for Standardization (ISO) 27001 certification in 2017 and accreditation as a Scottish Government Safe Haven. We prioritise data protection and operate under the NHS Grampian Privacy Notice.
The ISO 27001 outlines the requirements for establishing an Information Security Management System (ISMS). An ISMS is a comprehensive framework encompassing policies, processes, and procedures designed to assist us in effectively managing our information security risks. You can find out more here.
DaSH enables researchers to access and analyse data through a secure virtual environment. This facilitates important health research using electronic patient records when individual patient consent is impractical. By securely linking and processing health and social data, DaSH contributes to advancements in understanding health and disease across the Scottish population.
