Overview
The course is in two parts. Part I concentrates on the differential and integral calculus. Applications to Engineering problems involving rates of change and averaging processes are emphasised. Part II contains material on matrices and complex numbers, approximation and Taylor series, and differential equations. Both parts I and II are taught throughout the half session with approximately 3 lectures a week on the former and two on the latter.
Structure
5 one-hour lectures per week. 1 one-hour tutorial per week, and 1 one-hour tutorial every two weeks.
Assessment
1st Attempt: 1 two-hour written examination paper (80%) and in-course assessment (20%).
