Overview
This is a foundational course in world religions. Each year, the course will examine three of the following four religious traditions: the Semitic traditions of Judaism and Islam; and the Indic traditions of Buddhism and Hinduism. Students will receive a basic introduction to the texts, traditions and social institutions of these religions as well as an introduction to the questions surrounding how we should understand religion as a whole.
Structure
3 one-hour lectures and 1 one-hour tutorial per week.
Assessment
1st Attempt: 1 two-hour written examination (60%) and 2 essays (40%).
Resit: 1 two-hour written examination (100%), provided each element of assessment is CAS 6 or above. New coursework can be submitted.
