Overview
The course will examine ideas for European integration and attempts to set up pan-European agreements and structures from the late 19th century to 1945.
1 one-hour lecture, 1 one-hour tutorial.

Overview
The course will examine the breakdown of the wartime alliance after 1945 and the division of Europe into two opposing ideological camps. It will consider political and economic integration in Eastern Europe; the process of integration in Western Europe; the establishment of the EU; the collapse of Communism and its impact on Europe; the future of European integration.
1 one-hour lecture per week, 1 one-hour tutorial per week.

Overview
This course involves a year abroad undertaking one of the following:
(a) students spend one half-session at a University in each of the countries of their language specialisation. At the two foreign universities, students will follow an approved course of study.
(b) students spend a year in an EU institution.
(c) students spend one half-session in an EU institution and one half-session at a University in a country of one of their language specialisations.
(d) students spend the required period of residence in the countries of their language specialisation working in approved establishments.
(e) students may opt to spend a full year in the country of any of their languages. In such a case a student will only be able to do that one language in Fourth Year (with the exception of native speakers).
