This course examines the way in which children and young people interact with the justice system, from a domestic, comparative, and international perspective.

The seminars will include discussions on the age of criminal responsibility, children as vulnerable witnesses and issues of international significance such as the recruitment of child soldiers. The issues of the age of consent in the context of sexual offences and youth offending, as well as a consideration of how children are treated by the justice system will also be discussed and debated.
