This course designed is for Business Management students and covers one of the most important functions in an organisation/business, that of Human Resource Management (HRM). HRM links people-related activities to the strategy of a business or organisation. This course develops an appreciation and understanding of the role of HRM in delivering on business strategy and organisational objectives. In doing so, the course introduces relevant concepts and theories in the field of HRM. Topics include: Evolution of HRM; International HRM; Recruitment and Selection; Reward and Performance Management; Training and Development; Work-Life Balance and Flexible Working; and Equality and Diversity

This course is only available to undergraduate Business Management students at the AFG-University of Aberdeen campus in Qatar. Students will develop a critical awareness of key HRM theories and concepts, and how these can be applied in practice. The course is taught through interactive lectures and tutorials. Students are expected to engage fully with the material and read widely on each topic in order to demonstrate depth of understanding and an awareness of key issues within the HRM domain. Materials will be posted on MyAberdeen throughout the course. It is important that students check their email regularly for updates. The course requires full attendance and active participation in the class discussions and tutorial exercises.
