This course establishes and explains the principles underlying the interpretation of seismic reflection data, which are at the frontier for both academic and industrial geophysical applications. In it we explain and illustrate the limitations and potential pitfalls with interpreting seismic reflection data. As students, you will practice interpreting seismic reflection data (1) in a geological and structural context and (2) in a sequence-stratigraphic context on paper sections (as proxy for a seismic interpretation workstation environment). The course provides Core Knowledge for a career as Geophysicist or Geologist in the industry. It also provides critical understanding of results derived by the practical applications of standard software to real datasets through practicals.
